Beloit’s Chief of Staff earns YWCA distinction
In May, the college’s Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Board of Trustees Erica Daniels was honored for her professional achievements and community service with the YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Rock County (Wis.).
President Scott Bierman saw Daniels’ potential and thought she was exactly the right person to be the college’s next Chief of Staff. “Her knowledge of the college, understanding of the President’s Office, and relationships with so many people within the Beloit community — both college and city — were unparalleled. But most compelling were her traits of great judgment, unquestionable integrity, sharp intellect, and kindness.”
Students also recognized Daniels this year, inviting her to give the keynote address at the Celebration of Black Excellence, part of Commencement festivities in May. In addition to her role at the college, Daniels is a dedicated member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, serving as a deaconess, choir member, and youth ministry co-director. She serves on the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation Board and is a former Visit Beloit board member. She and her husband, Dr. Shedrick Daniels, have four children: Christian, Madison, Morgan, and Chloe.
